Sonora vs Vitally

Platform comparison

Vitally built a strong AI Copilot that helps CSMs summarize calls, draft follow-ups, and ask questions about accounts. Sonora was built agent-first from day zero — 40+ purpose-built agents that act on customer signals before your CSM ever opens the app. Same outcome on paper; very different architecture underneath, and very different pricing as you grow.

The short version

Two real differences. Everything else is detail.

Vitally is a great fit if you want an AI Copilot your CSMs invoke when they need help on a specific task. Sonora is a better fit if you want agents doing the work — taking action on signals before any CSM has to ask.

  • Health scores configure themselves. 40+ AI agents read signals from email, calls, tickets, and product usage automatically. No manual rules to tune.

  • Insights show up where CSMs work. Slack-native alerts, drafted renewal emails, risk flagged before churn happens — not surfaced in a separate dashboard.

  • Click-based integrations + Claude MCP. Salesforce, HubSpot, Intercom, Zendesk natively. Anthropic's Model Context Protocol for any custom or long-tail system — zero engineering.

  • $0 implementation. Unlimited seats on every plan. One flat monthly price for your whole book, sized to your account count. The AI is included, not a paid tier on top, and every plan carries unlimited seats.

Advanced AI (AI+)

  • Copilot, not agents. Vitally AI Copilot (AI Summaries, AI Actions, Ask AI) is a productivity helper that lives inside the platform. The CSM still has to click the AI Copilot button, prompt it for a summary, and pick which action to take. Powerful, but the human drives every interaction — it doesn't act on customer signals on its own.

  • Advanced AI sits behind an add-on. Vitally AI+ unlocks Custom AI Summaries, AI Historical Context, and the AI Meeting Recorder for extra cost on top of the base plan.

“very high priced and the cost does not allow for ROI”
    Verified G2 review
  • Pricing scales with your customer count. Public Vendr data shows Starter at $1.5K–$2K/month for 100–200 accounts and Growth at $3K–$5K+/month for 200–1,000+ accounts. As you grow, your CSP bill grows — the opposite of how a flat-tier partner prices.

  • Standard integrations only. Vitally has solid no-code connectors for the big systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk, Stripe, Mixpanel). For non-technical teams getting it all wired up, G2 reviewers note it can be “a bit overwhelming”. No Claude MCP for zero-engineering connections to custom systems.

Feature by feature

Where it matters most

Both platforms can give your team better visibility into customer health. The question is how much work it takes to get there — and what your CSMs actually do with what they see.

What CS leaders are saying about legacy CSPs

“Traditional CSPs are not great. They're not as predictive, not as AI-powered. What I care about as a manager is: give me the risk reports proactively, give me what's changed, give me the generated action items.”

Common questions

What teams ask us when comparing

Honest answers to the questions we hear most when prospects are evaluating Sonora against Vitally.

Yes. We routinely run focused pilots on a specific segment — typically your top renewal-risk accounts or your expansion-eligible book — alongside an existing CSP. The stand-up takes about a week, we set up a shared Slack channel with your team, and you compare what Sonora's agents surface vs. what Vitally's Copilot surfaces when prompted. Most teams use the pilot to build the internal case for switching at the next renewal.

A 4.5 average across 600+ reviews is real — Vitally has earned a reputation for an intuitive workspace and CSMs broadly like working in it. Drill into the same G2 corpus, though, and the verified complaints cluster around two themes: cost-to-ROI (the AI+ add-on is paid on top of base; one reviewer flagged it as “very high priced and the cost does not allow for ROI”) and setup complexity for non-technical teams (“a bit overwhelming” in another verified review). Those aren't outlier complaints; they're a pattern about who Vitally serves well. If you have CS Ops headcount to build out custom health scores and budget for the AI+ add-on, Vitally is a fine choice. If you don't have either, that's exactly why Sonora exists — our agents build and maintain the health scores for you, so you get the predictive layer without standing up a CS Ops function first.

What's included and seats. The AI is the product on our side — agents, research, and health scoring are all in the plan price. Vitally AI+ is a paid add-on layered on top of the platform fee, so the AI you are actually comparing costs extra there. Seats are unlimited on every Sonora plan, so the whole org gets the signals without your bill climbing with every hire, while Vitally's model grows with your customer count. Add $0 implementation and the year-one gap is usually bigger than the monthly line suggests.

Real strength of Vitally's. Vitally Docs and shared success plans are a polished surface for working with customers on outcomes together. Sonora doesn't have customer-facing portals today — they're on the roadmap, not in the product. Most teams we talk to are using a separate doc tool anyway (Notion, Google Docs, a shared Slack channel) and care more about whether the platform is doing the CS work autonomously or just asking them to — which is exactly where Sonora's agents pull ahead. If shared docs with customers are non-negotiable for your team right now, Vitally is the better fit there.

It's still early. The public dataset on AI-native CS deployments is small — early evidence points to 20–30% churn reduction on at-risk segments and meaningful expansion lift, but Sonora isn't yet a household name and the category itself is two years old. The one-week pilot exists specifically so you can answer this question on your own data, with your own customers, without a long contract. If the agents catch things your team and Vitally's Copilot didn't — and in early pilots they consistently do — you'll see it in week one. If they don't, you've spent a week and learned something.

This is where Claude MCP matters most. Salesforce, HubSpot, Intercom, and Zendesk connect natively with one click — same as Vitally. The difference shows up at the edges: your internal billing system, a homegrown product analytics tool, a Snowflake table, a Postgres database with your usage data. With Vitally, those typically need dev work or a middleware layer like Workato. With Sonora, we use Anthropic's Model Context Protocol as the integration layer — no engineering on your side, new integrations ship in weeks, design-partner driven, with a shared Slack channel for requests.
